New PARNL Members,
We are thrilled to welcome you to the MUN resident group. You should all be proud to be sitting where you are now after many years of work. Take an instant to reflect on the person who started medical school years ago and all the progress they made. You can now proudly call yourself a resident physician. We are lucky to have you join us and look forward to being a part of your journey through residency.
Newfoundland and Labrador is a kind and warm place. You may not always feel it in the cold months, but you can always count on Newfoundlanders, Labradorians and your newfound friends to make you feel at home. When residency gets challenging, remember that you are surrounded by a unique landscape that awaits to be discovered by you. Be on the lookout for icebergs, puffins, pitcher plants
and the beautiful sea.
In the next few years, you will grow as a person and a physician. We remember starting residency apprehensively, and we can tell you that the last years have been valuable. Your fellow residents, staff physicians, nurses and other allied health members want to see you succeed and will be paramount to your learning.
The Professional Association of Residents of Newfoundland and Labrador (PARNL) is another resource for you, and we encourage you to direct any questions to president@parnl.ca and/or to our Executive Director, Trish Penton, at executivedirector@parnl.ca.
With warm regards,
Vincent Dupont, President Elect, 2025-2026
