PARNL offers six awards annually to outstanding individuals who have made positive impacts in Medicine and the lives of medical residents. Please take the time to ensure these deserving individuals are recognized for their contributions. Award recipients for 2025 are:
- Dr. John G. Williams Clinical Teaching Award – Dr. Allison Lamond
- Lorimer Scholarship – Dr. Eva Davenport
- PARNL Advocacy Award – Dr. Soleil Chahine
- PARNL Excellence in Rural Community Medicine – Dr. Caitlin Sullivan
- PARNL Wellness Award – Dr. Lauren Winsor
Individuals may only receive an award once.
Final decision to rest with the PARNL Awards Committee comprised of one representative from each of the PARNL Board, PGME Office and LWS Office.
DR. JOHN G. WILLIAMS CLINICAL TEACHING AWARD
Individual award to recipient and a five hundred dollars ($500) donation to a charity chosen by the recipient.
CANDIDATES – Awarded to a Clinical Teacher who:
- exemplifies teaching that is adaptable, creative and effective,
- creates a supportive and psychologically safe environment for learners, and
- is a positive role model both in their knowledge/skill and demeanor.
ELIGIBILITY: All members of the medical staff in any institution
EXCELLENCE IN CLINICAL TEACHING AWARD
Five hundred dollars ($500)
CANDIDATES – Awarded to the resident who:
- demonstrates exceptional mentorship qualities and is a positive role model,
- creates a safe and supportive learning environment that advances academic interests, and
- provides an outstanding clinical teaching experience to junior learners.
ELIGIBILITY: All PARNL Members
EXCELLENCE IN RURAL COMMUNITY MEDICINE AWARD
Five hundred dollars ($500)
CANDIDATES – Awarded to the resident who:
- displays an interest in or commitment to practice in a rural community setting, and
- recognizes the unique challenges and health care needs within rural or community setting.
ELIGIBILITY: All PARNL Members
LORIMER SCHOLARSHIP
One thousand dollars ($1,000) and individual award.
CANDIDATES – Awarded to a resident who demonstrates:
- general all-around qualities of congeniality and
- excellent patient rapport and bedside manner.
ELIGIBILITY: All PARNL Members
PARNL RESIDENT ADVOCACY AWARD
Five hundred dollars ($500)
CANDIDATES – Awarded to the resident who:
- goes above and beyond in recognizing resident needs and advocating on their behalf to resolve issues affecting the resident group, and
- contributes to a positive culture that fosters a willingness of others to raise concerns/provide feedback and solutions
ELIGIBILITY: All PARNL Members
PARNL RESIDENT WELLNESS AWARD
Five hundred dollars ($500)
CANDIDATES – Awarded to the resident who enhances and promotes:
- resident wellness
- healthy working habits, and
- promotes a positive culture that fosters a psychologically safe learning environment.
